Questions CEOs ask us
QUESTIONS CEOs ASK US
Fractional HR leadership makes sense when your business has outgrown basic HR support but does not need—or is not ready to hire—a full-time senior HR executive. Common signs include rapid growth, inconsistent management practices, unclear accountability, outdated HR systems, increasing compliance risk, or an internal HR team that needs more strategic leadership.
Progress Amplified provides experienced HR leadership that works alongside the CEO, CFO, leadership team, and existing HR staff to build the people infrastructure needed for the next stage of the business.
2. What is the difference between fractional HR leadership and HR advisory?
Fractional HR leadership is embedded in the business. We take an active role in building and executing the people strategy, strengthening systems, developing managers, solving organizational issues, and helping leadership make better people decisions.
HR advisory provides access to experienced HR guidance without the same level of ongoing involvement. It is designed for companies that have day-to-day HR covered but want a senior HR resource available when questions, risks, or more complex situations arise.
3. Do you work with companies that already have an HR team?
Yes. In fact, many of our clients already have internal HR professionals.
Progress Amplified can provide the senior-level strategy, structure, coaching, and executive partnership that allows an existing HR team to operate more effectively. Our goal is not to create dependency. We build systems and capability your team can continue running as the business grows.
4. What size companies does Progress Amplified work with?
Our fractional HR leadership and people infrastructure work is primarily designed for growing and middle-market companies, generally those with roughly 250 or fewer employees, where the complexity of the business has started to outpace the existing HR infrastructure.
We frequently work with private equity-backed portfolio companies and leadership teams—including CEOs, CFOs, and PE operating partners—who need more sophisticated people systems without automatically adding a full-time HR executive.
5. Do you only work with private equity-backed companies?
No. Private equity-backed companies are a core area of expertise, but Progress Amplified also works with privately held and growing businesses facing similar people and organizational challenges.
The common denominator is usually change: growth, professionalization, acquisition, leadership transition, new systems, increasing complexity, or preparing the organization for what comes next.
6. What does Progress Amplified actually help with?
We build and strengthen the people infrastructure behind the business. Depending on the engagement, that can include fractional HR leadership, HR advisory, organizational structure and accountability, performance management, manager development, HR technology and HRIS support, compensation, compliance, employee engagement, workplace investigations, assessments, executive coaching, employee benefits, and post-acquisition integration.
The right solution depends on what is already working, where the gaps are, and what the business needs to accomplish next.
7. How long does a typical engagement last?
It depends on the problem we are solving. Fractional HR leadership is typically an ongoing engagement because building sustainable people infrastructure takes time. Project-based work, such as a 100-Day Sprint, HR assessment, HRIS implementation support, workplace investigation, or assessment engagement, has a defined scope and timeline.
We start by understanding what the business actually needs rather than forcing every company into the same engagement.
8. How quickly can Progress Amplified get started?
Timing depends on the scope of the engagement and current availability, but we are built to move quickly. We begin by understanding the business, leadership priorities, existing HR infrastructure, and immediate risks so we can identify what needs attention first.
For companies going through rapid growth, acquisition, integration, or another time-sensitive change, priorities and timelines can be structured around the business situation.
9. Do you provide employee benefits brokerage in addition to HR consulting?
Yes. Progress Amplified provides employee benefits brokerage support alongside our broader people infrastructure work. This lets small companies view benefits as part of the overall people strategy rather than an isolated annual renewal exercise.
Benefits support can include brokerage, strategy planning, employee education, implementation support, billing reconciliation, and ongoing service.
10. Where does Progress Amplified work?
Progress Amplified is based in Greater Houston and serves companies throughout Texas and across the United States, including private equity-backed and growing businesses with employees operating across multiple states. Much of our work can be delivered fractionally or virtually, with in-person support incorporated when the engagement requires it.
Employee benefits availability depends on the states in which coverage and brokerage services are provided.
11. Do you publish full rates online?
We show clear floors where helpful—for example, Assessment and Sprint starting points. Full fractional and custom engagements are scoped on a discovery call so we can match scope to the business—not a one-size rate card.
